The Orkney Pilothouse range owes much to the renowned Nelson Launches from TT Boat designs; like them, they are built to take tough seas and difficult sea conditions in their stride. The 20 is developed from the highly regarded Day Angler 19+, many of which are in use with harbour authorities, Police forces and other professional agencies. The hull features a reasonably deep forefoot with fine forward sections and pronounced flare developing into a moderate v aft. The resulting shape, combined with a moderate beam/length ratio, result in a dry, comfortable ride in rough seas without sacrificing traditional Orkney characteristics such as vice free handling, stability at rest, easy motion whilst drifting or at anchor and the ability to perform well with relatively small engines. The fully moulded cockpit has safe high coamings and is self draining with useful stowage under hinged lids. Wide side decks with practical angled-in toerails and pilot style coach roof handrails make going forward simple and secure. Down below the wheelhouse cabin is bright and airy with plenty of upholstered seating and the option of both galley and toilet. At the same time it is practical with over 64 headroom, good grab handles, convenient lockers and easily cleaned surfaces. Combining surefooted handling, workmanlike practicality and comfort below in a boat that is easy to tow and launch makes the Pilothouse 20 one of the best 20 footers around. SPECIFICATION
Hull, deck and ancillary mouldings are constructed in heavy duty hand lay-up GRP. Isophthalic resin is used in the hull which is stiffened below the waterline by bonded in bulkheads and longitudinal stringers. The cabin and cockpit are formed by GRP modules which are bonded into the hull to increase rigidity. The one piece deck moulding utilises complex core stiffening and is both bonded and mechanically fastened to the hull. Stainless steel winch eye, anodised alloy bow roller, mooring cleat and stern cleats, stainless steel handrail on wheelhouse. Tough all round PVC fender with stainless steel end caps. Fitted bilge pump, GRP side steering console fitted with steering wheel helm assembly and push-pull steering to suit through pivot steering outboards. Enclosed cabin with 2 berths/bench seats with stowage lockers under. GRP steering console and instrument panel fixed on starboard side. Cushions supplied for helmsman and co-pilot seat.
